• Penny Sharp

    Penny is the manager of Exline Country store and has been since even before day 1. She is a resident of Centerville, where she resides with her husband Rick. She and Rick have 5 grown children and 11 grandchildren, with 2 more on the way. The store is her dream job! It is always fun and no 2 days are ever the same. She enjoys meeting the people and planning the events that keep things new and exciting. Rick can be seen volunteering at the 4th of July celebration right beside Penny. It has grown in to an event that couldn't happen without countless hours of work by volunteers.

  • Jon Dorman

    Jon is the maintenance man for all of Morgan Cline owned businesses including Exline Country Store. Jon has been employed by the company since before the store even opened. He and his wife Judy live near Exline and they have a daughter Addy. Jon is the inspiration behind the annual Winterfest celebration which is our antique snowmobile show. Most of the sleds are owned by Jon. Jon also is an avid supporter of the store and is a planner of the annual 4th of July celebration, where he and Judy both spend a very long day volunteering.

  • Wayne

    Wayne Exline is Exline Country Store's favorite volunteer, He has lived in Exline his entire life. ( The town was even founded by his great great grandfather David Exline). Wayne instantly became one of the store "crew" by showing up nearly every day to volunteer. He can (and has) fixed about anything! He comes in every morning in the winter to build the fire in the stove in the "sit and spit" corner. He is also present to volunteer at the many events that Exline puts on. His countless hours of unpaid service do not go unnoticed. Not only is he a great handyman, he is also one of the nicest men in the world! He and his wife Rosalee are like family to the girls that work at the store. Thank-you Wayne. You 2 are both very special people!

  • Donna Davis

    Donna has been employed by the store since shortly after it opened. She is a Centerville native, with 3 grown children. She makes the short drive to Exline every day to work. Donna does a terrific job with her decorating skills, and is responsible for much of the decorating that is done in the store's antique area. She has a fun personality and is also known for her kindness. Donna cooks and cleans at a speed that is hard to keep up with! Donna enjoys the "locals" and they enjoy joking with her from across the soda fountain bar. Donna is one of Exline Country Store's biggest assets!

  • Gary Cline

    Gary is one of Exline's own, who has a very strong connection to Exline Country Store. The store was the brainchild of his brother Morgan E. Cline. Gary grew up less than a mile for the store and still lives within site of his childhood home in the log cabin subdivision known as Ponds and Prairies. Gary is a face seen often at the store. He comes up with some awesome ideas for Penny to use. Gary is a consignor at the store and his kitchen is licensed at home to bake cookies to bring to the store to sell. Gary is always ready to give the girls at the store a "hard time". The banter is enjoyed by all of the morning coffee drinkers. He is best known for the phrase "Get out of town!"!

  • Ian Lester

    Ian Lester is one of the small faces seen often at Exline Country Store. He lives in Centerville, and is the Grandson of rural Exline residents John and Nancy McKee. He is one of the smartest and most entertaining 6 year olds you will ever visit with, and he is soo cute!

  • Mike Leach

    Mike is one of Exlines coffee club members. He arrives bright and early each morning to eat breakfast, and drink coffee with the locals. It is a good time to drink a pot of coffee, read the local Daily Iowegian and catch up on the local gossip! You will find out a lot more from some of the coffee drinkers than you will ever read in the paper!

    Mike lives just South of Exline where he owns and operates Leach Trucking Company. He is married to Jean, and they have 4 grown children and 3 grandchildren. Mike is an avid supporter of Exline and is even a past winner of the Citizen of the Year Award. He is definitely an all around "nice guy"!

  • Michele Carlsten

    Michele moved to Exline about 5 years ago from Deadwood South Dakota. She and her husband Doug and teenage son Jeremy have fit in well in this small community. Michele began working at the store soon after moving to the area. She is known for her great cooking skills and her neat personality. The regulars love her because she doesn't just sit back and take their orneriness, she can also "dish it out !" Doug and Jeremy volunteer often at the store sponsored events and Doug and Michele are both very involved with the community. They have become family to the residents of Exline!


  • Tiffany Bogle

    Tiffany has worked at the store just over a year.. She lives in the small town of Cincinnati just a few miles West of Exline. she has 2 children, Trenton and Emma. Tiffany has NEVER met a stranger and brings alot of fun to the store! She likes to cut up and have a good time with the customers.

    She also is a very hard worker, and we are very glad to have her be a part of our team!


  • Bill Cowan and Dean Wages

    Bill and Dean come in each and every day (sometimes 2 or 3 times) to sit at the bar and drink coffee. They are the 2 "fixtures" most likely to give the girls a hard time. Exline Country Store would not be the same without their smiling faces!


  • Pam Mathes

    Pam Mathes has worked at Exline Country Store most of the time it has been open. If ever there were a true Exlinian it would be Pam. She has lived here her entire life. She has 3 grown children and 3 grandchildren. Pam is known for her great cooking skills and her jovial personality!


  • Frank Baumhoven

    Frank was one of the first residents of "Coal Miners Commons", which is a development of 8 coal mining houses, located just west of the store. The houses were designed and built about 3 years ago to replicate the original coal mining houses that once filled the town of Exline. Frank blended well in the community, and listening to him chat in the morning with the locals, you would think he had lived here forever!


  • Mary Ann Hurley

    Mary Ann and her husband Eldon, live just south of Exline Country Store. Mary Ann is licensed to bake pies and bread in her kitchen to bring up and sell on our counter. YUMMY! She is very active in the community and is involved in practically everything from the church to the recreation committee. We see her at least once a day, and really enjoy chatting with her!


  • Jim Irelan

    Jim Irelan has had Exline connections for many, many years. He is known in this area for his cattle, "Irelan Angus", and also for the clothing business that he owned and operated in Centerville for alot of years. It was (and still even after his retirement ) is named "Jim Irelan Menswear". Jim still comes to the store at least once a day on his way to check his cows. He is an extremely intelligent and well respected businessman in these parts, and we are proud that he has such strong Exline ties!


  • John Huebner

    John moved to Exline in the early seventies from Wisconsin, with his family. John is another one of our regular early morning coffee drinkers. He must get up early, because he usually gives us a run down of what was on the morning news when he arrives each day. He always has a story! His kids are now grown, and he and his wife, Pat, live in the country South of our little town. He is definitely part of the morning entertainment here!


  • Bonnie Helmick

    Bonnie is the "postmistress" of Exline. The post office sits directly across the street from Exline Old Country Store & Antique Exchange, and we are the only 2 businesses in this small community. Bonnie makes the drive each morning from Moravia, where she lives with her husband Keith. She has 6 grown children all married with kids. She is a very kindhearted neighbor and we are so lucky to have her so close!


  • Myrna Welch

    Myrna is one of Exline Country Stores regular "in and out" morning customers. She stops nearly every day for gas and a refill on cappucino. Myrna is the owner operator of Unionville Flower Shop. She always is a pleasure to visit with and we look forward to seeing her!


  • Irving Sargeant

    Irving and his wife Freda moved here about a year ago from Alabama. ( they are orginally from Vermont). they bought the home on Main Street formally known as the McCoy house. Irv and Freda have fit right in in our community. He shows up for coffee nearly every morning, and the 2 of them have lunch at the store quite regularly. We are so glad that they chose Exline as their retirement home!


  • Maida

    Maida is one of our very enjoyable residents living here at our Center. She enjoys participating in all activities offered at the Center and she especially loves to sing for the residents and staff.
